Saint Laurent Fall 2015 Review

Does anyone else believe that -- somewhere in a very glamorous "beyond" -- Yves Saint Laurent is shouting his firm disapproval? For Saint Laurent's Fall 2015 collection Hedi Slimane threw every Parisian rocker cliche in the book down the runway and proved, yet again, that he seems to be a one trick pony. Enough already.

Black is intrinsically part of the YSL brand, and thankfully Slimane didn't stray far at all from it. And yes, there were beautiful pieces hidden among the heroin chic, uber skinny, and narcissistic style looks that were shown. Gorgeous camel, and crocodile embossed three-quarter topcoats, moto-jackets to die for, and beautifully quiet but statement worthy Breton stripes. But it was hard to see past the all of the staid cliches that the designer is known for. A more robust silhouette and slightly less predictable styling might have provided a seriously winning menswear collection.

But alas, some are effortlessly cool and others will always need to buy the look. For the latter, I guess there will always be Hedi.
